I hurt myself at work today :-(

I can't believe I am telling you this, but alas I must have absolutely no pride left, and well it is a good story.  (Side note: I may have shared this already, if I have I'm sorry but it's worth repeating.  I have a theory that you should only do things for one of two reasons-#1 A free t-shirt  #2 A kick-ass story.  If you don't get either one of them, you really need to reevaluate.)  Anyway, back on track.  Today I hurt myself at work.  My knee is currently all bandaged up with an ice pack and I am propped up on pillows on the couch.  What happened you ask?  How did I inflict this horrible injury?  [insert taking a brave deep breath] Walking people, I hurt myself walking.  Honest, and yes, you may laugh at me and leave snarky comments if you feel moved to do so.  I'm a big girl, I can take it.  Speaking of taking (like the segway?),  I was taking the kids to the bus area and while I was walking them all of a sudden my knee felt all weak and achey.  By the time car duty had ended and I was walking (or rather limping) to the office it was hurting like a mo-fo.  Here's the real issue, I'm pissed.  Not that I hurt myself (which is annoying don't get me wrong), but that I hurt myself walking in sneakers...it wasn't like I was even wearing heels or anything that would add instability to my gait.  No people, I was wearing sneakers and hurt myself walking, walking.  [If you stop reading my blog after this embarrassing post I will completely understand.]  Later tonight while I was resting my sports injury (do you like the spin control?)  I was talking with my friend S who was trying to cheer me up and she quickly reminded me this would not have happened if I walked right foot, left foot (I always walk left foot, right foot which she thinks is weird.  Readers, which foot do you start with when you are walking?  I'm just curious if there is anyone out there in my camp.)  So yeah, I hurt myself walking...walking people...walking.  Seriously, I thought I mastered this around 10 months old?  Apparently not.

B) Hope you're feeling better soon, and I walk left foot right foot down the stairs- due to a tear on my knee suffered a few years ago when one of my kids kicked me and I hyperextended my knee SIDeways- YeeeeOuch.

And finally- this embarrassment will not stop me from reading

Shea--

1 a) Oh hell yeah, I wear heels, carry a purse, all that girly crap for work. To me it's all part of my "work uniform" that I don't do anywhere else.

1 b) I'm embarrassed to admit how many times I read wtg before I figured out what you were typing. I am not a text speaker, or writer other than WTF???? People hate getting text messages from me because they look like miniature novels and take me forever to type because I don't know how to do the cool text function that writes words for you. When I try it it just looks like a bunch of gibberish.

2) It was a little better today. I had the children get me ice during the day. I also walk left foot right foot because of a knee injury I had years ago. This one was a real sports injury from playing soccer (not like my walking sports injury). I just naturally walk with more weight on my left leg after years of compensating.

c) Awesome!

ps- I debated whether or not to type WTG... I mean I don't speak txt or know txt either- like you my text messages are mini novels. Often, I run out of space and have to send 2 text messages just to indicate that I want to go to a movie with friends.....what can I say- it's part of my charm....ya Riiiiiiight

I walk left foot right foot usually, but that was drilled into me for years when I was in the marching band. I walk right foot left foot if my knee is hurting though (I tore my ACL a few years ago)

Thank you Carolyn, I don't feel so alone or weird anymore.

I hope you are feeling better.

May I offer a plausible explanation to how you can possibly injure yourself walking ? Hormones. Yup. Blogged about that yesterday !

And I have no idea which foot goes first when I walk. None, whatsoever..

So I'm behind the times... But this may help you out: anyone with military training (including me) walks left foot first. You really aren't alone. :)

Asphalt Cowboy-Better late than never! I'm glad there are others that walk the "right" way!
